According to Taoist Tantric Practitioners we are only born with so much energy or Qi. It is important particularly when we become mothers and head toward midlife that we learn to nourish and replenish our energy.
These four practices offer you a good place to start when it comes to nourishing practices. They are bodymind focused so they require you to use your focus, intention and breath. This helps build new neural pathways between the brain and different body parts you are focused on. They are pleasure practices, our body has orientations toward pleasure and pain. Most of us try to avoid pain; this might be physical pain, painful emotions or situation.
It is not uncommon for many to try and fill up on sugar or coffee or amp ourselves up by dancing to loud music or doing really strenuous activity. This promotes false yang energy and ultimately is depleting for your adrenal glands and your kidneys. It is the pathway to burnout. Pleasure practices are nourishing and build both yin and yang energy. Most importantly you are building bodymind connections that help you listen to your body.
